National Carving Competition with the Theme Jepara Carvers Refusing Extinction

DPD HIMKI Jepara Raya provides support for the Carving Competition activities organized by the Jepara Carving Conservation Foundation.

The Carving Competition was held at Fort Jepara on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 and was attended by 488 participants with 5 categories that were competed starting from Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Women and Men.

The Carving Competition activities were held in commemoration of National Carving Day which will be declared Jepara Carvers Reject Extinction.

"This is a commitment from Jepara carvers to work together with stakeholders both in government, educational institutions and entrepreneurs to preserve Jepara's uir," said Hadi

In addition, in the opening there will also be a declaration of carving art as one of the P5 topics in all educational units as well as a declaration of Jepara's macan kurung and gebyok as decorations in government and private institutions.

"This strategic step was taken by the Acting Regent so that the macan kurung which is the icon of Jepara carving art does not become extinct and its preservation can be carried out through schools and of course we must support this policy together," he hoped.

For the sake of the smooth running of the competition, a joint prayer was held led by the Chairperson of the MWC NU Jepara District, Kyai Aunur Rofiq.

On that occasion, Kyai Aunur Rofiq hoped that the carving competition could run well. In addition, he also hoped that Jepara carvers would always maintain their harmony.

"After the formation of the Jepara carvers association, there should be no more price cuts," he requested.

"The association, in addition to being a forum for friendship, is also a forum for Jepara carvers to improve their abilities," concluded Aunur Rofiq.
