Following the announcement of the expansion of British Furniture (England Furniture) jobs that the company created 200 jobs in Tennessee, England Furniture is proud to announce that the company is continuing its dedication to creating American manufacturing jobs by bringing 79 jobs to Lee County in Virginia. The expansion has includes an operating plant, known as the Lee County Industrial Building, and a 32,000-square-foot factory that Britain will use to produce and ship furniture.
England Furniture was build on the principle of creating jobs for the talented workforce of Appalachia. Extending to the Commonwealth of Virginia further strengthens this dedication as the company aims to continue to create high-quality furniture that is durable with the shortest manufacturing cycle in the industry.
Governor, Mr Ralph Northam was the first to announce this expansion, and saying, "I am surprised to welcome British Furniture to Lee County and to Virginia, and thank the company for bringing quality 21st century work to the region. Manufacturing continues to be a pillar in communities throughout the Commonwealth as the company recognizes the benefits of our strategic location, cost competitive business climate, and sustainable talent channel. This is an important victory for Lee County and Southwest Virginia because the region is experiencing an economic increase, and we hope to build a long-term corporate partnership with Furniture UK. "

England Furniture, explained as a quality upholstered furniture producer by Governor Ralph Northam, will build a manufacturing operation in the 32-square-foot Lee County Industrial Building.
"I am pleased to welcome British Furniture to Lee County and to Virginia and thank the company for bringing quality 21st century work to the region," Northam said in a press release issued after 2 pm announcement at Lee County Airport on Thursday.
"Manufacturing continues to be a pillar in communities throughout the commonwealth as the company recognizes the benefits of our strategic location, competitive business climate, and sustainable talent channel," Northam said.
"An important thing that the victory for Lee County and Southwest Virginia because the region is recovering economically, and we look forward to building a long-term corporate partnership with British Furniture."
Founded jointly by Charles England and his sons, Eugene and Dwight, England Furniture has been making quality upholstered furniture since 1964. Northam said that the company and the heritage they built continues to be recognized for the highest quality and shortest manufacturing cycle.
Each piece of furniture is specially made for a lifetime. The UK ships orders in three weeks or less. Britain has operated La-Z-Boy Inc. and has been operating as an independent division of the company since 1995.
"The final decision of the England Furniture to publish its latest manufacturing operations in Lee County is extraordinary news for Southwest Virginia and shows the strong superiority of the region's business and than inventory environment," clearly Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Commerce Esther Lee.
"The company's new operation will create the needed jobs and economic opportunities in the coal fields. We are confident that British Furniture will benefit from an extraordinary workforce in the next growth chapter in Virginia. "
Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority (VCEDA) was approved a $ 350,000 loan to the Lee County Industrial Development Authority to assist the project. The Virginia Tobacco Commission was approved an additional $ 135,000, and than additional funds and services to support company employee training activities has been provided through the Virginia Employment Investment Program.
The VCEDA loan will help Lee County IDA renovate the building in Dryden to suit UK needs, said VCEDA Executive Director Jonathan Belcher. Ninth District Representative Morgan Griffith, R-Salem, said Lee County's operations in Britain "will provide a vital boost to the coalfield economy, and in return, the company will find a tough workforce and good location."
